Maria Menounos
Maria discovered she had an illness of her own as she looked after her mother with cancer of the brain in stage 4. In February 2014 Menounos started experiencing troubling symptoms. In the cover article of PEOPLE Menounos discusses how she was suffering from headaches and lightheadedness when she was on sets. "My speech was slurred. I also had trouble comprehending the Teleprompter." Menounos had been diagnosed as having a large meningioma brain tumor. A MRI confirmed this. Menounos had an appointment scheduled to see her mother's doctor famous Neurosurgeon Dr. Keith L. Black to schedule surgery to be performed on June 8 - her birthday. Menounos claims that Dr. Black said, "I am 98 percent sure that it's benign but we'll never know until we are in there," The complex operation took about seven hours and Dr. Black was capable of removing 99.9% of the benign tumor. The doctor. Black claimed that it's feasible to observe the tumor return in between six and seven percent of the cases. "But I'll go with those odds any day." Menounos has been admitted to the hospital for six days, has returned to home at home and has been spending recuperating.
